"There is a time for everything and a reason for every activity under heaven" (NIV)

Ecclesiastes 3:1

This scripture gives an explanation of life. Each stage of life is a season for example: as children we learn to roll over, sit up, crawl, talk, walk and eventually turn into teenagers and adults. There are several seasons in adulthood-such as being a young adult, starting a family, then becoming grandparents, middle-aged, then senior citizens and if we live long enough the only person left in the age group of our close friends. Then, comes the day when the Lord calls us home and we hear the words Well done good and faithful servant or depart from me I never knew you. So, we must live each day as if any minute the Lord will call us home.

The season of life I am in is the time before I become a senior citizen. The strange thing is I am being forced to begin a new life at 50. I think it is important I embrace this knowing God is guiding my steps. I am human and so I have days when I wonder if anything I have done will make a difference in eternity. I have preached the gospel truthfully and helped those in need and sometimes in return have been treated badly by the people I helped and preached the gospel too. I know Jesus was spat upon and crucified and he rose again. Someday, the Lord will return for the faithful and I want to be one of the faithful. The Bible teaches we overcome by the blood of the lamb and testimony. So, by sharing this testimony I hope to encourage others to stay faithful to the Lord no matter what the cost.

Today, I was at a laundry washing my clothes and I was thinking about my life and what I had done-if it would make a difference in eternity. Normally, I wouldn't have done laundry until next week sometime-but I just felt I needed to do it at this time instead. Now, the Lord had a plan to show me that it is our job to plant a seed of the Lord and to leave it up to him to help it to continue to grow. This lady and her daughter kept looking at me and truthfully I had a feeling I knew them. The mother finally asked me my name and it turns out I had her children in my child care facility. I helped them through a difficult time and took the children to church. It has probably been 20 years since they were in my care-but the mother told me that she still had the dresses I bought for the daughter and the Bibles I gave to them. The family is doing really well-the mother has been married for many years and the children turned out to be successful. I know the Lord his hand on this family. The Lord sent me to the laundry place to see that my job is to plant the seed and help until I am no longer needed and then it must be left in the Lord's hands. It was a miracle we met and she recognized me.

I believe that is how it will be in heaven. There will be people there that were touched by something done or said in the name of the Lord. I know there are many people who have touched my life and even though I have thanked them-they do not realize how much what they have done for me has made a difference in the future of God's Kingdom. So, today if you are discouraged and tired and wondering if what you are doing is making a difference-here is my suggestion: Start keeping a journal of what you have done for others, what others have done for you, prayers you made requests for and those that have been answered. Then, when you start feeling discouraged-read through your journal and you will be encouraged by what God has done for you and for others by using you. I will continue to serve those in need whenever and wherever the Lord provides the opportunity. I praise the Lord for giving me the opportunity to serve, preach the Gospel and show God's love by caring for others.
