Spirit Of Sickness
Sin entered the world in the garden of Eden when Satan led Adam and Eve to disobey the Lord. The result of their sin was death. Today, we can receive healing if we obey God. But, if we continue to live a life that is unholy and full of sin our health will be affected which will result in sickness. If you listen to Satan's lies which will include: unbelief, fear and the theory God will understand (if I sin this one time) will affect us in a negative way. Jesus was made in the likeness of man (Philippians 2:6-7). Matthew 8:17 “This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: He took our infirmities and carried our diseases." Isaiah 53:5 “But, he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities the punishment that brought peace was upon him and by his wounds we are healed." These scriptures show that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and paid the price for us to be healed by the stripes on his back. Many people wonder why everyone will not be healed. Here are few possible reasons why people do not receive healing: 1. Sin is in the person's life (that has not been confessed), Psalm 66:18 “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened." I Corinthians 11:27-30 “Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy matter will be guilty of sinning against the body and the blood of the Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgement on himself. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep." 2. Having fear of a certain disease ( such as heart trouble, high blood pressure, aids or cancer) may open the door for the spirit of sickness. 3. Not believing or knowing what the Bible teaches 4. Physical exhaustion by not getting proper rest and balanced meals. 5. Inherited diseases that are accepted because the person does not claim the right to health as a child of God. 6. Some just want to accept the spirit of sickness and finally people choose to continue to walk in the flesh instead of the spirit. Galatians 5:19-21 “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery idolatry and witchcraft hatred, discord, jealously, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy drunkeness, orgies and the like. I warn you as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." There are many ways to receive healing. James 5:14-15 “Is anyone of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayers offered in faith will will make the sick person well the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven." The most important thing to remember is when the oil is placed on the forehead - the person must release their faith to be healed. Matthew 18:19-20 “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them." The most important thing is to be in agreement about what you are praying for. Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs will accompany those who believe In my name they will drive out demons they will speak in new tongues they will pick up snakes with their hands and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." The gifts are healing are for today and it is by God's choice who will be healed. The ultimate healing will be received when the Lord calls us home to be with him.
